Jim brings incredible knowledge and dedication to his job as General Manager at R&D Masonry. R&D Masonry was in its infancy when Jim signed on with the company over 10 years ago. Since then, the company has grown, along with Jim's responsibilities and reputation. Before joining R&D, Jim served for five years as Secretary/Treasurer for the Bricklayer's Union. This gives him a unique management perspective, having been a hod carrier, bricklayer and Masonry foreman prior to that. While working in the field as a brick mason Jim also worked as an estimator for several masonry contractors prior to joining the leadership of the local.
"We don't care who gets the credit as long as the job gets done right."
Jim meshes the old school work ethic of rolling up his sleeves and getting the job done with all of the technical tools at his disposal in R&D Masonry's modern office. Jim has a background in building envelope design and feels strongly that having the masonry contractor provide a full masonry scope keeps the responsibility and the efficiency of the masonry envelope installation in the hands of the masonry craftsman.
Jim tracks and bids jobs, follows up with customers and is respected in the industry as a wealth of knowledge and an expert on masonry matters. He is constantly sought out by architects, designers, and GCs for his input on constructability and function. He has been working diligently as a member of the Masonry Institute of Washington's Technical Committee and is respected for his counsel on masonry sustainability issues.
